Inspiration

I recently watched the film Layer Cake, I know it has nothing to do with my film but while watching it, it really did get me thinking and i noticed some of the camera shots they used.
  • I really loved the shot through the glass table from underneath, i thought that was really clever.
  • The shot when the camera faces three of the characters, I found interesting. It was as though they were talking to the audience instead of each other.
  • I love the way when Daniel Craig gets taken from his flat to the roof of a building, and they start with the camera looking at him and then moves above him so we can see what he can see, i thought this was so clever.
The angles they used really got me thinking of ideas for mine.

I have thought about my ideas and I am thinking of maybe editing my film a bit. Im a big lover of crime and thrillers and after watching this I have come up with a lot of ideas but if i was to add some crime into my film I would still stick to the romance story and the cause of her suicide would still be her wanting to be with her boyfriend after his death but it will be his death that changes. His death will be to do with a major drug deal gone wrong or something along those lines. The only problem with this I do not think I will be able to get the actors I need, I would really love to do this but i do not think it is going to work also I do not want to complicate things, I think I may be looking into it too much and just making too much for myself.

  1. Some really lovely work here, Danielle!
You have been working reflectively - and well done on the film shoot as well. Things like this rarely go according to plan.
The storyboarding - you must pay attention to more work on planning close-ups. This is an emotion heavy film you are planning - meaning will depend on lots of good acting, and that means exchange POV shots and cutting between close ups of the main actors facial expressions. Your storyboarding must include this.
